Allergan Launches Preservative-Free Lubricant Eye Drops

In February, Allergan launched its Refresh Optive Advanced Preservative-Free lubricant eye drops, the most recent addition to the company’s dry eye management portfolio, Allergan said in a press release. The eye drops work by stabilizing the lipid layer to help reduce tear evaporation, and it hydrates the aqueous layer while providing an advanced lubricating and protective shield to the mucin layer. The product is available in 30-count, single-use vials, as well as a preserved multidose formula. The active ingredients include polysorbate 80 0.5 percent, carboxymethylcellulose sodium 0.5 percent and glycerin 1 percent.
